Almighty Father, for our loved ones in all branches of the services, we ask your divine protection.
Give them courage and strength against all enemies both spiritual and physical. Hasten their safe journey back to their homes and families.
If it be your Holy Will that they be gathered to your arms, let their journey be swift and painless. There may they stand in honor and glory, praising you for all eternity.
Robert Pilon sings Bring Him Home
God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.
Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy.
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live.
If I die, let me die
Let him live, bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
Prayer
We fervently ask you, O Lord, to absolve the Soul of your servant ...
from the bonds of sin; that being dead to the world, he may live to you;
and whatever sins he may have committed through human frailty, may you, in your great Mercy, pardon through the merits of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
We have loved him in life, let us not forget him in death. (St. Ambrose)
